Bald eagles see an estimated 4 to 8 times sharper than we do

Estimates of eagle eyesight run from about 4 to 8 times sharper than an average human's. Their eyes are large for their head, which helps them pick out a fish from high above the water.

They aren't above cutting corners, though. Bald eagles are known to chase ospreys and try to steal their fish.

It doesn't always work. In one study of a single osprey population, researchers saw bald eagles try it 15 times, but only 2 of the 1,793 fish the ospreys caught were lost to eagle attacks.
