Mr. Wildside fun fact
Great horned owls eat skunks
Owls have superb hearing and eyesight but a weak sense of smell. For a great horned owl, that's a feature, not a bug: a skunk's spray barely slows it down, and skunks are a regular part of its diet.
That's a big meal. A great horned owl weighs about 3 pounds, and a striped skunk can weigh roughly twice that.
Attacking silently from above helps too, since a skunk's defenses are built for predators on the ground.
Wear the Great Horned Owl
A great horned owl watches from a mossy forest branch, ear tufts up and eyes glowing.
