Sea otters have the densest fur of any animal

Sea otters have no blubber, so they stay warm with fur instead, and lots of it. Guinness World Records lists them as having the densest fur of any mammal, about 650,000 to 1 million hairs per square inch depending on the part of the body.

To keep from drifting apart while they sleep, sea otters wrap themselves in kelp or rest close together in groups called rafts. Now and then two of them really do hold paws, which is rarer than the internet suggests but absolutely real.
